August 17th Update

Hi everyone,

I sure hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy this beautiful weather this summer. I always feel so lucky to enjoy the crisp mornings and warm afternoons. You have a few weeks left to enjoy the days with your kids so I’ll be looking forward to seeing boating, fishing and swimming summer pictures from all the children when they return.

We are so excited to welcome students and families back to school on September 1st, 2020.  I’ve been going through altered procedures for best practice during the pandemic. Thankfully, students adapt to change quickly so I am anticipating they will adjust sooner than we all will expect. 

I will be sending out communications often and please be aware they may be changing as I am adjusting our plans whenever changes are posted on Alberta Bizconnect. 

Please take time to read Stavely School’s Re-Entry Plan. This document is subject to change, particularly once our students arrive and put proposed plans and procedures into action.

Daily At-Home Health Screening - Please make sure you complete the COVID 19 Screen Questionnaire every single day. You do not need to submit it to the school but it needs to be completed at home. You can also find it quickly under our ‘Quick Links’ tab on our website.

Place Based Learning - We will have our lessons outside as often as possible, especially when we are returning to school. Please send your children with weather appropriate clothes, sunscreen and bug spray, hats and water bottles.

Meet ‘n Greet - Please join us Friday, August 28, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., for our social distance Meet ‘n Greet.  We are inviting all In-School Grade K-6 families to join us for a frozen treat and time to visit with staff (while we social distance of course). Please complete the COVID 19 screen questionnaire prior to arriving though. The Meet ‘n Greet will be outside. The students can enjoy the new playground as well. 

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - Well, it’s finally here. September 1st, 2020. Your child(ren) will be back at school. In the re-entry plan, there are times outlined for drop off of your children to avoid congestion in the boot room. 

Please note which boot rooms your child will be using as well. Please drop them off at their assigned boot room. Unfortunately, parents of Grade 1-6 students are not permitted in the school at this time. However, staff will be waiting to welcome your child into the building and help them with their materials. If you have a specific question or request, please me (watsonl@lrsd.ab.ca) and I will do my best to problem-solve with you.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS - Please join us for the K orientation Friday August 28th, 2020 @ 11 a.m. Parents will have a chance to talk with staff about the inner workings of Stavely School.

Mrs. Philp will be contacting you directly with your staggered entry time and day for the start of school.
